What the EGS controls
Shift scheduling, shift quality (through adaptive pressure maps), torque converter lockup, and the interface with the DME for torque management. The EGS receives torque requests from the DME and executes shifts via the transmission’s hydraulic mechatronics.
Target address
0x18 (24 decimal) on KWP2000 over K+DCAN. On F/G-series with UDS, the same address at the UDS service layer.
What Beemuu reads
Current gear, fluid temperature, input/output shaft speeds, torque converter lockup state, adaptive pressure values, fault memory (shift-quality faults, pressure sensor faults, solenoid faults).
Service functions on the EGS
EGS adaptation reset, after a fluid change or mechatronics repair. The adaptation values are learned; resetting them puts the EGS back to base values and lets it relearn over the next drive cycles.
Why EGS adaptation matters
On a high-mileage EGS, the learned shift pressures can drift out of range. The result is harsh or delayed shifts. Resetting the adaptations and letting the EGS relearn restores shift quality.
