What Valvetronic does
Varies the intake-valve lift continuously, not in steps. Low lift at idle (low pumping loss, clean idle); high lift at high RPM (more air, more power). The eccentric shaft rotates to change the rocker-arm geometry and the lift.
Why it’s more than just variable lift
Valvetronic replaces the conventional throttle body. The intake air is metered by the valve lift, not by a throttle plate. The result: no throttle plate pumping loss, which improves part-throttle efficiency. The trade-off: the eccentric-shaft actuator is a complex piece of hardware that can fail.
Adaptation reset
The DME learns the eccentric-shaft’s zero point and the actuator motor’s offset. After mechanical work, a reflash, or a low-voltage event, these learned values can be out of range; the DME throws a Valvetronic code; the engine runs rough.
The adaptation procedure
Connect with Beemuu, run the Valvetronic adaptation-reset routine targeting the DME. The DME clears the learned values. Start the engine, idle for 5 minutes — the DME relearns the zero point. Drive a 15-minute mixed cycle to finalise. The routine ID is currently unverified per the project audit.
